ABOUT MESA BANDS

Join us for the second year of Mesa Bands! Playing live music has proven to inspire, builds collaboration skills, invites courage, and prepares young students for future careers. Our curriculum is focused on preparing for and experiencing live performances at venues like the Mesa Theater, The Cavalcade, and the Mesa Music Studio. It gives students excelling in their school's music program a space to go beyond with added learning, performing, and collaborating opportunities in a semi-professional, high energy, environment. 

We have middle school, high school, and adult aged bands in Grand Junction Colorado. Each band will focus on a wide range of musical styles including rock, soul, blues, pop, folk, and funk. Auditions help us group students with similar ability levels. We encourage everyone of all ability levels to sign up for an audition! 

The group is directed by guitarist and educator, Ivan Gygi, with leaders of the local music community as guest artists and clinicians including Adrian Herrera, Tim Emmons, Rob Labig, Caitlin Moore and others.  

• Weekly rehearsals throughout the semester. 

• Students are required to be a part of their schools music program

• Piano, bass, guitar, drums, trombone, trumpet, saxophone, and vocals.

• Tuition of $50 a month to help cover costs including instructors, guest artists and rehearsal space.
